Cardiff City's attacker search turns to Rangers star but they face competition from Stoke City and Middlesbrough

Cardiff City are reportedly one of several clubs keeping tabs on Rangers winger Jordan Jones.

According to TeamTalk, the Bluebirds are among a host of Championship clubs to cast their eye over the Northern Irish international, with Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Barnsley among those credited with an interest.

Jones is currently on loan at League One side Sunderland, and has reportedly been told by his parent club that he will be allowed to leave Ibrox this summer, a situation that has seemingly put his admirers on high alert.

The forward has made four league starts in nine appearances for the Black Cats, and has seemingly made a strong impression since arriving towards the end of the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old is just the latest attacking player to be linked with a move to the Welsh capital, with boss Mick McCarthy likely to already be planning for the summer having signed a two-year deal at the club earlier in the month.

The club has also been linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday winger Adam Reach, while rumours linking City with fellow Owls star Jordan Rhodes continue to linger following a failed move in January.

Rhodes is out of contract at the end of the season, with Huddersfield Town also believed to be monitoring the situation closely.

Owls boss Darren Moore recently admitted he's not surprised by suggestions of interest in the Scottish striker, but insists he's focused on ensuring the 31-year-old gets firing once again, with Wednesday staring relegation in the face after slumping to a seventh straight defeat at the hands of Norwich City at the weekend.

“I’ve worked with him before and I know what he is capable of doing," Moore said.

"He is a good player and has a wonderful eye for goals. He’s a natural when he gets in front of goal in terms of chances. He has got wonderful composure in front of goal. Does it surprise me that those clubs (Cardiff and Huddersfield) are looking at him? No. He is a good player and he is contracted to Wednesday and he has got a huge part to play for the rest of the season."
