Cardiff City 'ready to beat' Nottingham Forest in race to sign Senegalese midfielder

Cardiff City are 'ready to beat' Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Younousse Sankhare, according to reports.

The Bordeaux midfielder, who has UEFA Super Cup and Europa League appearances to his name, was linked with a move to the City Ground last week by L'Equipe .

Sankhare is said to have been told that he no longer has a future with the French club, despite still having two years left on his current deal.

He has been linked with moves to Championship rivals Swansea City and Premier League new-boys Sheffield United - who are also understood to be in advanced talks with Reds midfielder Ben Osborn .

But now the Bluebirds, managed by Neil Warnock, are in 'pole position' to land their target, according to TEAMTalk, in a deal that could cost them a fee in the region on £4.5m.

The 29-year-old has 373 career appearances under his belt, including seven caps for Senegal - the last of those coming in 2017.
