Cardiff City players travel to Greece to surprise Aron Gunnarsson for his birthday

Aron Gunnarsson's Cardiff City team-mates have surprised him by turning up at his holiday destination in Greece just a few days after the Bluebirds' last game of the season.

Gunnarsson had jetted off to the Greek island of Mykonos with his wife, personal trainer and model Kris Jonasdottir this week following his time in Wales officially coming to an end at the weekend.

Images and video footage shared on Instagram show the couple meet up with Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison and his fiancée Stacey Ward after the couple surprised Gunners outside his hotel room.

And it looks like the surprises have continued, with team-mates Lee Peltier and former Bluebirds Anthony Pilkington and Craig Noone also making the trip to celebrate the midfielder's birthday, which was actually last month.

Gunnarsson's wife Kris wrote on Instagram: "This has been secret since last year and finally everyone's here".

Gunnarsson played his final match for the Bluebirds on Sunday in Cardiff's 2-0 win over Manchester United, now heading to Qatar to continue his career with Al-Arabi after eight years in south Wales.

The Icelander was given a huge ovation at Old Trafford at the weekend, before the loyal servant then led supporters in signing off with a Viking clap.
