Cardiff City player ratings as Rubin Colwill stands out and Kieron Evans impresses again v Cambridge United

Ryan Allsop 6

Neat and tidy with his feet, but largely a passenger such was City's dominance, although had to make a smart low save at the start of the second half.

Perry Ng 6

Was far more advanced than in the previous two games, sometimes playing alongside Colwill in that No.10 role. Found Ralls with a nice cross early on.

Mark McGuinness 6

Certainly a target again from set pieces and won his fair share. Neat and tidy.

Jack Simpson 7

A good outing from the centre-back. Defensively was really solid and was calm and assured with the ball at his feet. Had one good header on goal saved.

Joel Bagan 7

Looks really confident in this new inverted full-back role. He launched a couple of good attacks from there. Looks good so far, this pre-season.

Ryan Wintle 6

You rarely notice him when Cardiff have such control because he often plays the simple passes and isn't needed in defence. No frills, but steady.

Joe Ralls 7

The way Cambridge set up made it a congested midfield and Ralls thrived in the close quarters. He popped balls out to Bagan, Ojo and Co and added to City's attack. Had one good chance from close range saved.

Kieron Evans 8

Another really positive outing for the diminutive forward. Has a bag of tricks in his locker and showed one or two of them. Also hit a couple of dangerous cross, both whipped and low, to no avail.

Rubin Colwill 8 (star man)

A really pleasing performance from the playmaker. Began slowly but then really grew into it and made things tick. He is so dangerous on the half-turn and in transition and created some good moments for City. Sent a couple of shots wide himself.

Sheyi Ojo 7

His best outing so far this summer. Was always an outlet and did not dawdle in possession, a criticism which has been levelled at him in the past. Hit quick crosses and struck a couple of good shots, too.

Kion Etete 6

Had an early header saved but other than that struggled to impact the game too much. Didn't do anything glaringly wrong, though.

Cardiff City team after 62 minutes

Jak Alnwick 5

Flapped at a corner and not as composed with the ball at his feet. Made a decent late save from a long-range effort but wasn't totally convincing.

Mahlon Romeo 5

Had one sloppy moment on the ball early on and was perhaps caught napping a little for Gassan Ahadme's late equaliser.

Xavier Benjamin 6

Made one or two big headers from corners. A more assured outing from him this time.

Eli King 7

Did really well in that centre-back role again, keeping the U's strikers quiet. Like the look of him in that centre-half role.

Tom Davies 6

Made a decent early run and hit a nice cross into the box. Good to see him get a run out.

Ebou Adams 6

Ticked play along nicely, nothing too flash. Still obviously feeling his way into things.

Andy Rinomhota 6

Similar to what Ralls did in the first half, doing good things in offense and defence within tight quarters.

Ollie Tanner 7

Another bright outing, even if it was only 30 minutes. Got an assist to his name to add to his two goals so far in pre-season after pulling a lovely cross to Robinson.

Callum Robinson 7

Another goal in the tank for the forward, which is a good sign for him. Stroked the ball home from close range after his goal on Tuesday.

Joel Colwill 6

Had a big outing on Tuesday night but was quieter against Cambridge. Didn't have many opportunities to impress.

Max Watters 6

Did well in the Robinson goal. He laid off Tanner in the build-up. Didn't have a chance of his own, though.
