Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan delivers his verdict on Neil Warnock's future at the club

Vincent Tan wants Neil Warnock to stay at Cardiff City .

Despite the Bluebirds' relegation, the Malaysian believes the 70-year old is the man who can bring Cardiff back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He told BBC Sport : "I am happy for Neil to stay and achieve his ninth promotion to the EPL".

Cardiff were officially relegated from the top flight following Saturday's defeat to Crystal Palace, and will travel to Manchester United on Sunday for their final fixture of the season.

Neil Warnock's live TV tribute to Cardiff City fans moments after relegation was confirmed

Warnock revealed after the defeat to the Eagles that he would like to carry on in management, but said he wasn't sure if his career would continue with City, adding that he had "no idea" about what the future holds.

He had previously stated he would stay at the club if the club's hierarchy wanted him too.

Warnock held talks with Tan over the weekend and he now appears keen to keep the man that sealed what was a hugely unlikely march to the top flight last season.

Warnock has a year left on his current deal in the Welsh capital and seems to still have the full support of the dressing room.

"He knows what all the players need.

"He knows the Championship inside out. For me and the other lads, he's been massive and it's a big plus that he's staying."
