Paul Cook and Tony Pulis are the early frontrunners to succeed Neil Harris as Cardiff City manager, according to the bookies.
Cook has already made it clear that he is keen on returning to management after leaving his post at Wigan Athletic last summer.
He recently confirmed that he had held talks with Sheffield Wednesday over their vacant managerial post, but it appears talks are no longer ongoing.
The Liverpudlian told talkSPORT: “I have had contact with Sheffield Wednesday, we have spoken. As we speak now those talks aren’t really ongoing so that’s where the situation stands."
Ironically, the man he was hoping to replace at Hillsborough is also among the early favourites to take over in the Welsh capital.
SkyBet have priced Cook at 4/1, and his fellow frontrunner at 5/1 respectively.
Former Southampton boss Mark Hughes, who himself recently said he was ready to return to management, is just behind at 6/1.
Former Reading boss Mark Bowen is next at 7/1, while Danny Cowley (10/1) and Michael Flynn (10/1) are also tipped to be in the mix.
Fans' favourite Craig Bellamy is out at 12/1, along with Eddie Howe, who's recently been heavily linked with Newcastle United and Celtic.
Former Wales boss Chris Coleman, and Lee Bowyer, are both at 14/1.
