Drameh poised for Cardiff reunion
Cody Drameh is in line to face his former club on Sunday, with Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch confirming the full-back will be in the squad for the upcoming FA Cup third round clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Drameh enjoyed a hugely successful six-month loan with the Bluebirds last season, and was even named Cardiff's Player of the Season for his exploits.
However, he's largely struggled for game time at Elland Road, sparking speculation over his long-term future in West Yorkshire. A host of Championship clubs, including Swansea City, were understood to have taken an interest over the summer, while reports elsewhere claim the likes of Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on developments.
A move hasn't yet materialised, and he has remained at Leeds, with Marsch believed to be keen on keeping him on board, although game time has remained scarce. However, the 21-year-old could well receive the chance to impress at his former club on Sunday.
"He'll be in the squad for sure and then we'll see exactly how we decide to use them," Marsch said. "I know it's sort of contradictory what I've been saying, I'm really happy with Cody but then haven't included him in the squad, but I'm really happy with Cody, really happy and we've got to figure out exactly how to challenge him moving forward as well."
Leeds braced for 'fight' at Cardiff
Meanwhile, Jesse Marsch insists Leeds are prepared for a bruising battle when they take on the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff have previously been something of a bogey team for the Whites, who've won just three of their previous 25 meetings across all competitions against City.
And despite Mark Hudson's side struggling at the wrong end of the Championship, Marsch is expecting a 'cup fight' in the Welsh capital.
"This is why I think even when we got the draw, we spoke about and we knew this was going to be a difficult draw for us. It's a bit of a long way by English standards, not by American standards," Marsch said.
"For me, it's about having a clear mindset and expecting the best from them and being ready for that. It'll be a cup fight and I think our ability to play the way we want to play but to understand exactly the mindset of the opponent will be very important and for us to be ready for a real match absolutely in every way."
McGuinness a 'Rolls Royce' defender
Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith has labelled Mark McGuinness a 'Rolls Royce' defender, ahead of the loanee's proposed return to Cardiff City.
McGuinness is set to return to the capital after Saturday's FA Cup third round clash with Newcastle United at Hillsborough, and Smith admits he'd be a big loss to the Owls
"Macca has been such a good player since he's been with us," Smith told Yorkshire Live. "For such a young lad to have such experience - he's got an old head on young shoulders and has been like a Rolls Royce at the back for us.
"Obviously I don't know anything about his (loan) situation but if we did end up losing him it would be a big loss. But then it's time for someone else to step up and fill in his boots."
