Cardiff City news as Burnley star hails Bellamy impact and ex-Bluebirds midfielder sent message

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Wednesday, September 28.

Rodriguez full of praise for Bellamy

Burnley's leading goalscorer Jay Rodriguez has hailed the impact of assistant boss Craig Bellamy as a key factor in his impressive season so far.

The Cardiff City hero has been working alongside Clarets coach Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, and his methods are seemingly already earning rave reviews.

Rodriguez has been in red hot form so far this season, scoring five goals in eight games, and believes the influence of Bellamy has been a significant driving force.

It's been brilliant, Craig Bellamy has been great since coming in," he said. "He sees things in my game that he saw in his own game, which has helped me out in situations. We had a chat today [Tuesday] about certain aspects of my game which he thinks I can improve and how that will help the team as well.

"That's what you want as a player, someone who has that eye for detail, who can see what works while telling you how to improve as well. To listen to Bellamy, with the career he has had, and the coach he is now, is definitely a big thing and you need to listen to people like that."

He added: "We spend a lot of time at the training ground with all of the coaches. They're always around so you need to listen and learn from them. That's the way it is.

'Superb' Vaulks handed message

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has told former Cardiff City midfielder Will Vaulks he has nothing to prove for the Owls, after watching the Welshman produce an impressive performance in the 3-1 win over Wycombe.

Vaulks picked up an injury in pre-season and has been eager to impress Moore, who has a number of other midfield options at this disposal.

“He was superb and I was pleased for him,” Moore said. “I just said to him 'Vaulksy, you have got nothing to prove to anybody, just play your game.' We saw what he brings to the game and the different sort of player and qualities he brings and why you need that.

“Looking at the squad this year, it is a smaller, tighter squad this year, but there is more versatility in it because with the type of games, there are different ones and it's just picking the right type of personnel for the games.

Robinson in action for Ireland

Callum Robinson came of the bench for the second time in as many games for the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night.

After playing the final 13 minutes of the Republic's 2-1 defeat to Scotland at Hampden Park, the forward was brought on for the final 14 minutes of 3-2 win over Armenia, a result that consolidates Ireland's place in League B.

Callum O'Dowda was also named in Stephen Kenny's squad but did not make an appearance during the international break.

Bluebirds trio on target for Wales

Joel Colwill, Morgan Wigley and James Crole all found the net for Wales under-19s as they hammered Gibraltar 9-2.

Wales ended up finishing third in the Euro qualifying group, with a home defeat to the Republic of Ireland dealing a fatal blow to their hopes of a play-off spot.

However, all three young Bluebirds were on target to ensure the campaign ended on a high at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, with Crole bagging an impressive brace.
