Cardiff City boss Neil Harris is looking to re-sign Wolves right-back Dion Sanderson despite leaving him out of the business end of the season, claim reports.
Sanderson impressed on loan with the Bluebirds, but was then axed by Harris after a poor performance in the regular league defeat at Fulham a few weeks back.
As such, Sanderson did not feature in the subsequent play-off semi-final clashes with Fulham, the Bluebirds agonisingly missing out on a trip to Wembley to face Brentford.
The Mail report Wolves have "received a number of enquiries" the 20-year-old defender, with the Bluebirds supposedly leading the chase.
Steven Gerrard, boss of Scottish giants Rangers, was keen on Sanderson. However, he has signed Leon Balogun from Brighton on a free transfer so appears to have ruled out a move for the Wolves man.
That could free up a Cardiff swoop to take him on loan for the 2020-21 campaign, with Wolves keen for Sanderson to get game time elsewhere to continue his development.
However, Harris will be eyeing a number of right-back options and knows it is a priority position as he seeks to strengthen his squad in the coming days and weeks for the new season.
Harris used Leandro Bacuna as his right-back in the play-off clashes with Fulham, selecting Marlon Pack in midfield.
But Bacuna is not a specialist full-back and his absence from the engine room badly hampered Cardiff, who lacked legs and altheticism for large parts in the midfield against Fulham and were outclassed.
It was only in the second-half at Craven Cottage, where Joe Ralls, Will Vaulks and Lee Tomlin were together, that Cardiff finally got on top of the Fulham midfield and really took the game to the Cottagers.
It led to Fulham panicking for the first time in the tie and almost losing their own Wembley dream.
Whilst Bacuna offers versatility, Harris will surely want his legs, pace and energy as a midfield option next to Ralls and Vaulks as Cardiff seek to put together a squad capable of winning automatic promotion next year.
That squad tinkering will include a hunt for a right-back, whether Sanderson or someone else, while Harris wants to land Wales striker Kieffer Moore.
Harris will also be assessing his midfield options and where he can strengthen there.
