Cardiff City make U-turn on Le Havre forward Alimani Gory - reports

Cardiff City have reportedly made a U-turn on their pursuit of Le Havre's versatile attacker Alimani Gory.

Reports emanating from France claim that Cardiff and the Ligue 2 side have agreed a fee of €2.5m (£2.3m) for the winger, who can also operate as a striker.

It is understood that Neil Warnock is keen on bolstering his attacking options before the window shuts at 5pm today and it now appears a deal for Gory is back on the table.

Get French Football and L'Equipe both claim that Cardiff and Le Havre are currently thrashing out the finer details such as the player's personal terms.

It is thought that Cardiff are leading the race to sign the 22-year-old and are successfully fending off interest from an unknown Belgian club.

The reports claim that Gory is expected to arrive in Wales today to undergo a medical before the move is finalised. The Frenchman, who predominantly played on the left last season, scored eight goals and provided four assists in 34 outings last term.

It is unknown whether the potential arrival of Gory, or Birmingham City striker Isaac Vassell, will impact the future of fan favourite Bobby Reid, who is by his former club Bristol City and Fulham.

Sources in Bristol claim Reid, who still spends a lot of him in his home city, would countenance a move back given many of his friends and family are still there. But Cardiff's stance on Reid's potential exit, for now at least, remains unknown.

Should Gory and Vassell arrive today, however, it could well spell the end for at least one of Gary Madine, Omar Bogle or Danny Ward.
