Cardiff City in £1m move for Scottish international striker - reports

Cardiff City are reportedly weighing up a £1m bid for Scottish international striker Eamonn Brophy.

The Daily Mail report the 23-year-old Kilmarnock star has been identified by Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock as the player to make his mark on the Championship this season, following the departure of Kenneth Zohore to West Brom.

Brophy scored 12 goals in 33 games last season in helping Kilmarnock seal third spot in the Scottish Premiership table behind Rangers and Celtic.

His impressive displays earned a call up to play for Scotland in their 2-1 win over Cyprus last month. During his five years with Kilmarnock Brophy has netted 21 goals in 67 games.

Despite the Scottish club still in a state of shock from last week's humiliating Europa League defeat to Welsh Premier League side Connah's Quay Nomads, Kilmarnock will listen to offers for the front-man, who joined from Hamilton in 2013.

Cardiff need a new centre-forward after the £8m loss of Zohore to Championship rivals the Baggies, particularly if they are to achieve their dream of an instant return to the Premier League.

Forgotten man Omar Bogle pushed his claims to be in Neil Warnock's plans after scoring again in the overnight pre-season friendly draw with Spanish side Real Valladolid.

Danny Ward and Gary Madine are also on the books, while Callum Paterson and Bobby Reid can be pressed up front if necessary.

But Warnock ideally wants to bring in a new man in time for the August 3 Championship kick-off at Wigan and has targeted a number of strikers with other clubs.
