Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and West Brom links with Famara Diedhiou dismissed - report

Famara Diedhiou is NOT in talks about a move away from Bristol City, contrary to reports circulating on Wednesday evening.

Get French Football News claimed that West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town are all interested in signing the 26-year-old Senegalese striker.

The article went as far to say that newly-relegated Cardiff and Huddersfield were 'actively engaged' in discussions over signing Diedhiou, with the Robins willing to listen to offers between £8m and £10m.

The Baggies and several Turkish clubs were also credited with having an interest.

However, no sooner had the rumours begun to circulate before they were dismissed. A source close to the player played down suggestions of a move away this summer to WalesOnline, claiming the forward has returned to pre-season training and is looking forward to the campaign ahead at Ashton Gate.

Speculation about Diedhiou's future has gathered momentum partly because it is unclear whether he is actually back with the rest of the squad, with the towering striker absent from photos and videos of their first few training sessions at Failand.

The Senegalese international is the Robins' main striker but had a hit and miss campaign last season, netting 13 goals in 44 appearances.

He currently has two more years to run on his current contract at Ashton Gate, and has netted 27 goals in 80 appearances over the last two seasons.

Bristol City are keen to bring in a new striker themselves this summer having previously being linked with a move for Middlesbrough star Britt Assombalonga and Aston Villa's Scott Hogan in January.

While City broke their transfer record to sign Tomas Kalas for £8m this week, they do not need to raise funds to bring in a new striker.

However, the Robins have a track record of letting a player go when their valuation is met.
