Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Monday, December 13.
Cardiff target has contract clause
Reported Cardiff City target Rarmani Edmonds-Green has a contract clause which Huddersfield Town could trigger to extend his expiring deal.
The 22-year-old centre-back is currently on loan with Rotherham United in League One and has earned plaudits for his performances so far during his breakthrough season.
And Football Insider claim the Bluebirds, as well as Derby County and Preston, are interested in making a move for the player in the new year, with Huddersfield said to be braced for bids when the winter transfer window opens.
Edmonds-Green's contract with the Terriers expires next summer and it is claimed a six-figure bid would be enough to prise him away from the Yorkshire club.
However, YorkshireLive have now posted an update regarding his contract and it is said that the Terriers have an option to extend his contract by a further year, which would obviously ramp the asking price up.
Huddersfield triggered four similar clauses with players last season.
Cardiff's defensive record this season has been alarming, with Peterborough United the only team to ship more than City's goals so far this term.
It is an area, it seems, Cardiff are looking to address in the upcoming window, with Edmonds-Green seemingly on the radar.
'Outstanding' McGuinness shines again
Cardiff City defender Mark McGuinness has come in for more praise, with Quest pundit Clinton Morrison branding him "outstanding".
The centre-back really is coming into his own in a Cardiff shirt and is earning his fair share of admirers.
His performance against Birmingham City at the weekend only gained him more deserved praise and, during Quest's EFL highlights show, former Blues striker Morrison spoke highly of the young defender.
Presenter Colin Murray said even if McGuinness had not popped up to score the winner, he should have been named man of the match.
Morrison agreed, saying: "He was outstanding. They went from playing a three at the back to a four at the back and he was outstanding.
"He did ever so well. He wanted to score that, he went in and attacked that. Birmingham will be disappointed by their defending, but credit McGuinness, he wanted to score that."
Favourite for Ipswich job Harris 'ready to go again'
Neil Harris has spoken about the Ipswich Town job after being linked with the vacant managerial post at Portman Road.
The manager was relieved of his duties at Cardiff City at the beginning of the year after a stretch of poor results which left the Bluebirds battling at the wrong end of the table.
He has been out of work since then, but has recently been linked with the Ipswich job following Paul Cook's exit.
Speaking about the Tractor Boys vacancy, Harris told talkSPORT2: "I'd never talk about any individual club. I've turned down jobs in the past and Championship jobs this year.
"For me, I had a great six years at Cardiff and Millwall. They are two fantastic clubs in different ways.
"I'm looking for a project to get back in. I really enjoyed my time managing in the Championship, and had a great experience at Millwall, always being the underdog.
"But I really enjoyed League One as well. League One is a great division and there are some really good teams there and some really good players. I had a great time getting out of that division with Millwall.
"What I would say is I'm ready to go again. I've enjoyed the break, had great family time but watched an awful lot of football as well.
"I've been at various different clubs to watch them work in the Premier League, League One, Championship and League Two with Kenny Jackett [Leyton Orient] to watch them work. I watched how they recruit, watched how they prepare for games, watched them on the grass, watched them at the games on a Saturday as well to see how it all comes together and to see if there's anything you can add.
"I'm ready to go again. I’m refreshed, recharged, have had a lot of reflection time and am good to go."
It has been reported that Harris is somewhere near the top of Ipswich's shortlist.
When speaking about Ipswich, the former Bluebirds boss said: "It's a brilliant football club. It’s a great challenge for somebody to go in and hit the ground running.
"They've struggled for a little bit of momentum this year and consistency, but it's a playing squad and a football club that deserves to be right at the top of the division, at least at the league above and have aspirations of finally getting back to the Premier League.
"Ipswich is certainly a club that deserves to be in the league above and fighting to get in the Premier League."
Bluebirds given go ahead for new academy site
Cardiff City have been given the green light to begin construction on a huge new site in Llanrumney which will become the club's new academy home.
The Bluebirds teamed up with Cardiff Council and Cardiff University to drum up the idea for a top-end sports site to serve not only Cardiff City FC, but local Llanrumney sports clubs as well as the university's sports teams.
The 16-acre complex, where Cardiff City's academy will be based, will include a tier-two 3G football facility, a floodlit, 3G, IRB-standard rugby pitch and another dual floodlit football and rugby pitch which will have pitch markings for both sports.
There will also be learning facilities included in the construction, with the plan to take over the old Doctor Who building and create a learning environment with classrooms for the youngsters who attend college.
The two-storey building will include offices, a lecture theatre, canteen, changing rooms and a gym. The building will also house an indoor academy-standard 3G training pitch, in addition to five full size grass pitches, a 3G tier-two standard pitch and a goalkeeper-specific training area.
The community facilities will occupy where the old Llanrumney High School playing fields are and will include a new building with changing facilities for the Llanrumney-based sports teams.
