Wintle recalled to Cardiff from Blackpool
Cardiff City have recalled Ryan Wintle from his loan spell with Blackpool.
The 24-year-old completed a permanent switch from Crewe Alexandra to south Wales in the summer, although he was loaned out to the Tangerines after making just three first-team appearances for the Bluebirds.
However, with Steve Morison eager to ensure he has sufficient numbers to cope with any potential injuries or further Covid-19 outbreaks, Cardiff opted to cut Wintle's season-long loan deal with Blackpool short.
It means he is eligible to feature in the FA Cup third-round clash with Preston North End at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.
A statement read: "Steve Morison has recalled Ryan Wintle from his season-long loan with Blackpool.
"Ryan will return to the Vale this week to link back up with the Bluebirds squad, having made 18 league appearances for the Seasiders during the first half of this campaign.
"Welcome back to South Wales Ryan, we look forward to seeing you."
Wintle made a total of 18 appearances for Blackpool, who are currently 12th in the Championship.

Wolves chief explains Giles recall
Wolves' technical director Scott Sellars says he has been hugely impressed with Ryan Giles' impact at Cardiff City.
The 21-year-old was due to spend the duration of the campaign on loan with the Bluebirds, although on Monday, it was confirmed he had been recalled by his parent club.
Sellars has revealed Giles will immediately slot back into the Molineux outfit's squad having registered nine assists in his 21 league outings for Cardiff.
"Gilo has been doing great out on loan. He’s been playing in numerous positions, on both wings and wing-back, and has done very well," he said.
"Now, with Covid, injuries and international call-ups, players are dropping out, and he’ll be added to the squad.
"What he’s been doing at Cardiff has been impressive, when he was in forward positions his assist record was outstanding, and this is an opportunity to come back and train with the first-team and show Bruno [Lage] what he’s learned.
"He came back in the November international break, which was great, and we now need to make sure we have options during the current Covid situation. It’s a chance to work with a Premier League first-team for him and we’re making sure we’re protecting ourselves."

Paul Warne reveals Pack message
Rotherham United manager Paul Warne has revealed his side were left in tears by Marlon Pack's late equaliser when the two sides met on the final day of last season.
The Millers headed into the game with the Bluebirds needing a win in order to preserve their Championship status.
But after Lewis Wing had given the visitors an early lead, their hopes were dashed late on when Pack's scuffed effort ensured a share of the spoils, sending Rotherham back down to the third tier.
In an interview with The Athletic, Warne revealed he spoke to the Cardiff match-winner after the game, adding that the pain of relegation was too much to bear for some members of his troops.
“It was a torturous day,” he said.
“From where we were, I could hear a lot. There was no crowd in apart from our owners and directors. I could keep hearing them cheering when a goal went in in the other game and I kept thinking, ‘we might have done this’.
"I don’t think anyone disputes the fact that we outplayed Cardiff and we should have been three up and then Pack scored the equaliser.
“He told me that he mishit his shot as we shook hands at the final whistle. I don’t know if it made me feel better or worse, he apologised and said he’d been aiming for the other corner. It was horrendous. It just felt like we had let everybody down — the fans, our owner, the directors, our families.
"I took it really hard, I was very emotional. I went in the dressing room afterwards and the lads were in tears, which you don’t see with a group of grown adults very often.”
