Cardiff City headlines as MK Dons make plan for Max Watters and ex-Everton and £13.5m flop trains with 10th-tier club

These are your Cardiff City headlines on Christmas Eve.

MK Dons planning on Watters stay

MK Dons manager Liam Manning says he is keeping Max Watters in his plans until told otherwise.

Watters signed for the League One club on loan in the summer, and the young striker has done well under Manning's tutelage.

With Cardiff struggling in front of goal, there have been calls for Watters to be recalled in January to boost Steve Morison's attacking options.

But Manning hopes all his loan men - Ethan Robson (Blackpool), Troy Parrott (Tottenham), Watters (Cardiff), Josh Martin (Norwich) and Peter Kioso (Luton) - will stay on.

“We're in constant dialogue but in terms of decisions, nothing has been finalised yet,” he said. “They're with us as it stands, and that's how we're working until we're told different.

“January still seems a long way away with two more games before then.”

Watters has been struggling with injury but could return for the Boxing Day clash with Lincoln City.

Manning said: "We’re not far off a clean bill of health. Max is still touch and go but the rest are pretty much back. We’ll have a look at the data to see where people are at and make sure they are in the best condition possible, especially giving everything we've had happen"

Niasse training with West Didsbury & Chorlton

Former Bluebirds loan man Oumar Niasse has been training with 10th-tier outfit West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The striker, who joined Everton for £13.5million from Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2016, endured a disappointing stint in south Wales in 2019.

He featured 13 times but failed to find the back of the net once.

After leaving Everton he turned up at Huddersfield last year, but didn't make an appearance for the Terriers.

According to the Yorkshire Post, the 31-year-old striker was training with West Didsbury & Chorlton as recently as last month.

He has been capped nine times by his county Senegal.

The kids to look out for

Cardiff City are set to welcome through more young talent next year.

We have seen a number of players make their debuts in 2021 and that trend looks likely to continue into 2022, with the Bluebirds keen on becoming more self-sufficient by utilising their academy starlets.

We have taken a look at a few players who could burst onto the scene next year.
