Cardiff City headlines as Man United eye Bluebirds starlet Leeds United bid for and Ipswich Town fans call for Neil Warnock

Here are the latest Cardiff City headlines for Wednesday, December 15.

Man United eyeing Ashford

Manchester United are the latest high-profile side to take an interest in Cardiff City youngster Cian Ashford.

The young forward, who hails from Treorchy, has emerged as one of the brightest young talents within Cardiff's academy system, having signed his first professional contract with the club earlier this year.

The 17-year-old is yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Bluebirds, but is already catching admiring glances from outside the capital.

The club have already turned down a six-figure offer from Leeds United for the forward, and it's understood Man United have also now shown a keen interest.

Ipswich fans keen on Warnock

Ipswich Town fans have urged the club to appoint Neil Warnock as their next boss.

The League One side are on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Paul Cook earlier this month, and there's already been plenty of speculation over who will take the reins at Portman Road.

Neil Harris, another former Bluebirds gaffer, is one of those to be strongly linked, but a new poll has suggested that Warnock is the fans' choice to talk over in East Anglia.

The poll, conducted by the East Anglian Daily Times, saw Warnock garner 23 per cent of the vote, putting him ahead of Frank Lampard (18 per cent) and Liam Manning (10 per cent).

Warnock is available too, having been sacked by Championship side Middlesbrough earlier this season.

Rooney linked with Everton return as City clash looms

Derby boss Wayne Rooney could reportedly make a "sensational return" to Everton as his team's crunch clash with Cardiff City looms.

Rooney's side face the Bluebirds this weekend in what could prove to be a hugely significant clash at the bottom of the Championship, with Cardiff needing to win to ease their fears near the foot of the table.

Derby are cut adrift at the bottom and appear certainties to be relegated, but would actually be above Cardiff were it not for their heavy points deduction.

Ahead of the game, The Sun claim Rooney could well jump ship and make a sensation return to Goodison Park if the Toffees decide to part ways with under-pressure boss Rafa Benitez.
