Manchester United have endured a rough season to say the least but their humiliation went another step further on the final day of the Premier League season as they fell behind against Cardiff City .
The Red Devils have not been in the battle for the Premier League title or the race for the top four, but to add insult to injury, they drew at Huddersfield Town in the penultimate match of the season before trailing at home to Cardiff early on.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing put Cardiff 1-0 in front in the first half with a penalty as the Bluebirds led at the break. Cardiff fans, some of whom made the trip to Old Trafford in fancy dress, subsequently provided the ultimate jibe when singing '1-0 to the Championship' .
And, when Mendez-Laing made it 2-0 early in the second half, Old Trafford couldn't believe what it was seeing.
Cardiff will be plying their trade in the Championship next season after relegation from the Premier League but the players still made an impact at Old Trafford.
