Cardiff City eyeing up move for Aston Villa striker previously at Bristol City - report

Cardiff City are said to be one of a number of clubs chasing Jonathan Kodjia.

The former Bristol City star is currently at Aston Villa but his contract expires at the end of the season.

Football Insider report that talks are yet to begin over a new deal, and there is plenty of interest in his services ahead of the January transfer window.

Villa turned down a £7m bid from Qatar club Al-Gharafa in September, but the primary reason for that was due to the fact the English transfer window had already shut.

Instead, Villa appear to be open to offers in January for the 30-year-old, who they signed from the Robins in 2016.

Kodjia spent one season with City, netting 19 league goals in 2015/16 before moving to Villa Park, but he has managed just 20 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Cardiff are reported to be one of a number of clubs interested in his signature in January as they look to bolster their squad during what has been a below-par season so far.

If Kodjia were to move to the Welsh capital, he would add to the host of former Robins currently at the club, with Aden Flint, Marlon Pack and Lee Tomlin also plying their trade for the Bluebirds.
