Cardiff City eye move for former Bristol City star after disappointing Middlesbrough year

Cardiff City are reportedly eyeing up a move for Aden Flint.

The Mirror claim the Bluebirds are keen on making a move for the 30-year-old defender, who is currently at Middlesbrough following a £7m move from Bristol City last summer.

Flint is an iconic figure among Robins fans after scoring 37 goals from defence in 209 appearances during a five-year spell at Ashton Gate between 2013 and 2018.

Yet he failed to recapture that form at the Riverside, being criticised by some Boro fans after they missed out on the play-offs last season.

Yet Neil Warnock is keen to add height to his defence and feels the 6ft 6in Flint would fit the bill.

It would be a move that would catch the eyes of Robins fans, seeing one of their former favourite players move to their Severnside rivals.

The deal would also reunite Flint with Bobby Reid, who moved from the Robins to the Welsh capital last summer.

Speaking on his return to Ashton Gate with Boro last season, Flint revealed the reasons for his departure.

Flint told Bristol Live: “It was a big decision to move.

“I’d been at  Bristol City  for five years and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

“I just felt it was time to progress my career. I’m 29 and, with no disrespect to  Bristol City , I felt it was a better chance and opportunity to get promoted to the Premier League and play top-flight football.”
