Cardiff City end interest in Alimami Gory as they turn attention to new striker targets

Cardiff City have ended their interest in Le Havre striker Alimami Gory.

The Bluebirds are looking to get a new forward in before Thursday's transfer deadline to boost their strike force, after adding German frontman Robert Glatzel in a £5.5m deal.

Reports emerged on Monday evening suggesting the club had submitted a bid for the 22-year-old while Cardiff had been linked with a mystery striker last week - who is understood to have been Gory.

However, it is understood that they have moved on to other targets after failing to reach an agreement with the Ligue 2 outfit.

Quite who will be the next in the door at the Cardiff City Stadium remains unclear.

It could well be the case that Neil Warnock sticks with what he has got, with Glatzel adding to the existing stable of Gary Madine, Omar Bogle and Danny Ward.

However, it is possible that one of them leaves and Cardiff go in search of another forward.

The club had been linked with Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah, but those rumours are wide of the mark.

But any other addition would likely to come from the loan market at this late stage of the window.
