Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock blames Bristol City for 'low quality' derby

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has blamed Bristol City for the perceived low quality in Sunday's Severnside derby.

The Robins won the game 1-0 thanks to Josh Brownhill's strike midway through the second half, but it was a tense match that featured just five shots on target.

Speaking to Wales Online, Warnock said that this was City's game plan.

"The system they played made it like that," Warnock said when asked if it was a 'low-quality' match. "It’s difficult to play against.

"That’s what he wanted it to be. I don’t think he wanted it to be an open game.

"I thought it was an average derby. I thought the crowds were the best on show. The atmosphere was good again.

"Like they got a goal, I thought Junior’s shot would have been good enough to win a derby.

"Whereas we are now talking about their guy’s shot."

The Bluebirds have won just one in their last six matches, and Warnock puts this down to his side not taking chances, and that he did not feel threatened by the Robins.

He said: "The only thing I could fault is that we could have got out quicker to block the shot, even though it’s a brilliant shot.

"I think if your life’s at stake you block that – I think it was Flinty and Packy – but they were fine margins today.

"I didn’t feel threatened today, but we didn’t create clear-cut chances. There was the little bit of devilment missing in the final third."
