Cardiff City announce Perry Ng signing from Crewe Alexandra as major right-back issue finally resolved

Cardiff City have announced the signing of Perry Ng from Crewe Alexandra in a big step towards resolving the problem at right back.

The Bluebirds have seen an exodus of right backs over the past 12 months, with Lee Peltier, Cameron Coxe and Jazz Richards all having left the club.

They recruited Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan from Arsenal in the summer, but, despite the youngster's bright performances, he has endured an injury nightmare since sustaining a hamstring tear back in October.

In his absence, Leandro Bacuna has filled in with varying degrees of success, but now a permanent solution to that glaring problem appears to have been found in the form of Ng, who joins the club on a contract until 2024 for a fee believed to be worth around £250,000.

Ng, who becomes the second signing of the window for Cardiff after the £1m capture of Max Watters from Crawley Town was announced last weekend, comes with a solid reputation which has been earned through plying his trade in the lower leagues.

The 24-year-old, whose last name is pronounced "En Gee", was named in the League Two Team of the Year last season, when Crewe earned promotion to League One, and was captain of his former club.

Neil Harris has spoken about adding leadership within the group and it appears that Ng, although perhaps young in years, will bring that to the squad.

Ng is available for selection for Wednesday night's Championship clash with QPR.
