Cardiff City have announced the signing of Wolves winger Ryan Giles on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old spent last season out on loan, moving to Coventry City for the first half of the campaign before joining Rotherham United in the new year.
Giles has operated as a conventional left midfielder, a left-back and an attacking winger throughout the course of his career and will add some much-needed depth on that side following the departures of Joe Bennett and Junior Hoilett.
While Mick McCarthy has opted against using wingers during his relatively short stint in charge of the Bluebirds, the addition of Giles gives him the flexibility to do so.
He will also act as competition for 19-year-old Joel Bagan, the only recognised senior left-back currently in the Bluebirds' squad, should the manager opt for his tried and tested wing-backs system.
The player's arrival in the Welsh capital sees him sign his sixth loan deal away from Wolves.
"I'm delighted to be here,” Giles said. “Cardiff City is a massive Club, with a great history and an amazing fanbase.
"It was a no-brainer when I knew the interest was there. There are some very good players here and I think the competition will be healthy. Hopefully it will bring the best out of me.
"I want to come here, get as many games as I can and help the team as much as possible."
He has played just one senior game for the Molineux club, a 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury in the FA Cup back in January 2019.
His Cardiff loan represents the biggest move of his career and no doubt one which he will relish, having played for AFC Telford, Shrewsbury, Coventry and Rotherham on loan previously. It will offer him a real platform to prove to his parent club what he can really do.
Giles becomes City's fourth signing of the summer after the permanent arrivals of James Collins, Mark McGuinness and Ryan Wintle.
