Cardiff City and Wales star helps elderly and vulnerable amid coronavirus lockdown

Cardiff City defender Jazz Richards has reached out to the vulnerable and offered his services to those in need as the coronavirus crisis continues to escalate.

The pandemic is threatening to impact the elderly and those with existing health conditions, with the latest government guidelines now urging people to stop social interaction and gathering in public places such as pubs, cafes, restaurants and theatres.

The UK government has advised people over 70 and those in poor health to self-isolate in a bid to reduce the risk of contracting the disease, which would render countless people housebound.

But Bluebirds right back Richards has used his social media platform to tell those who are unable to risk going outside that he, along with a group of his friends, will help wherever he can.

“Due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the rapid outbreak leaving people vulnerable, especially the elderly, myself along with a few close friends will try our utmost to help any elderly people get the resources they need,” he wrote on Instragram.

“Where we are lost and in an unexplainable predicament, we have decided to come together as a group of friends to help the most vulnerable.

“We will try to cater to everyone we can.

“There is a helpline to call and we will try our best to be at your service.”

It is an extremely classy gesture from the Wales international, and of course his friends, who has used his sizeable social media following to try to ease the burden on those who need help.

Richards asked those he need assistance to call the number 07725711674 and to spread the message as far and wide as possible.
