Cardiff City and Middlesbrough tracking Tanzanian striker Mbwana Samatta ahead of summer transfers - reports

Cardiff City are tracking the progress of Genk striker Mbwana Samatta as they begin transfer business for the summer, according to reports.

The Tanzanian striker, currently at KRC Genk, has been in excellent goal-scoring form this season while, according to Football League World , he is also on Middlesbrough's radar.

The 26-year-old, who captains his national side, has netted a total of 32 goals from 49 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring seven in the Europa League and providing a further six assists.

Samatta is a 5ft 9ins striker currently playing in the Belgian First Division A, having moved to Genk from TP Mazembe in 2016.

The forward has previously been linked with the Bluebirds during the January transfer window, with the club tracking him back then.

The reports come as work has already begun to bring new faces into the Cardiff set-up as the club head back into the Championship next season following relegation from the Premier League.

What Cardiff City actually got for the £30million they spent to stay in the Premier League

With confirmation coming this week of Neil Warnock staying as boss, Vincent Tan is also set to free-up funds for up to six new players to be brought in this summer.

Two new midfielders will definitely come in, following the loss of loan stars Victor Camarasa and Harry Arter.

Warnock mays also look to sign a goalscorer, plus a right-back, centre-back and new winger.

Some of those players will be used as cover to the stars currently on Cardiff's books, but Warnock is seeking three quality newcomers capable of stepping straight into the first XI and leading the planned promotion charge.
