Cardiff Blues coach John Mulvihill to miss Boxing Day derby after two players test positive for Covid-19

Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill will miss the Boxing Day derby against the Dragons after being identified as a Covid-19 close contact.

The Aussie attended a one-on-one meeting with a member of the senior squad on Friday and that player has since returned a positive test after displaying mild symptoms.

In all, two players who live together have tested positive for Covid-19 following a community transmission and are adhering to all Public Health Wales guidelines.

During the Blues’ weekly round of Covid-19 testing, no further positive cases were identified and Mulvihill returned a negative result.

However, as per Public Health Wales guidelines, he must isolate for 10 days from the date of exposure.

He will remain in close communication with the squad this week, with team meetings already taking place online, and he will be linked up live to the coaches box at Rodney Parade.
