Crystal Palace's front three all got on the scoresheet as they beat Cardiff 3-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium, a result which confirmed the hosts' relegation from the Premier League.
Wilfried Zaha's 10th goal of the season - and ninth away from home - gave Palace the lead a third of the way into the match. But Martin Kelly's own goal three minutes later gave Cardiff hope.
Michy Batshuayi put the Eagles back in front shortly before the interval and despite the hosts' attempts to mount a comeback, Andros Townsend struck a late third to condemn them to the Championship - and seal another impressive away victory for Roy Hodgson's side.
With Cardiff knowing that only a win would keep them in the hunt to survive relegation, it seemed that the Bluebirds would come out all guns blazing.
And they almost went ahead in the first minute when Jacob Murphy's effort took a wicked deflection and bounced back off the post.
The hosts were dealt a blow when top scorer Victor Camarasa was forced off through injury and it seemed to affect their creativity in the first half.
There were very few clear-cut opportunities until finally, Zaha brought the game to life. The Ivorian took advantage of some excellent work from Andros Townsend and struck a low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
But just three minutes later, Cardiff were level. Leandro Bacuna, on a substitute, sent a dangerous cross into the box and Vicente Guaita was caught in no man's land and Kelly, under pressure to make the clearance, diverted past the Spaniard and into his own net.
The chances kept coming for both sides, with Guaita twice tested by headers from Bruno Ecule Manga and Bobby de Cordova-Reid. But just six minutes before the break, Michy Batshuayi finished emphatically from close range after a lovely move involving Zaha and Townsend.
Staring in the face of relegation, Cardiff tried to mount a second-half comeback and should have levelled when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's cross was sliced wide by Murphy.
The Bluebirds had another golden opportunity when substitute Kenneth Zohore sprung the offside trap but when he tried to slot underneath Guaita, the goalkeeper got just enough on the shot to keep it out.
And they would pay the price for those costly misses as the excellent Townsend cut in from the right and finished into the bottom corner with help from the post. That goal burst the Cardiff bubble and effectively sealed their fate as Palace celebrated a fifth away win in six games on the road.
