Bundaberg caravan park resident found dead with stab wounds

Forensic officers at the Bundaberg caravan park.

Police are investigating the death of a man found with several stab wounds in Bundaberg, Queensland.

The body of the 44-year-old was found by a friend in the friend's cabin at a caravan park in the suburb of Kensington about 7:00am on Thursday.

"They are known to each other and have been friends for at least a couple of months," Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford said.

The man suffered multiple stab wounds to his abdomen.

"A knife has been located beside the deceased," Detective Inspector Pettiford said.

"So at this stage we're assuming that is the weapon that was used."

He said police had not established whether there were any suspicious circumstances.

"None of the residents surrounding the location heard any disturbances," Detective Inspector Pettiford said.

Police say the friend, a 46-year-old man, was a witness and has been talking to police.

"We're investigating a sudden death so in that respect there are no suspects," Detective Inspector Pettiford said.

"We do have a male person who actually resided in the cabin in which it occurred who is cooperating and helping police with our enquiries to establish the exact cause of death."

He said police were not looking to speak with anyone else at this stage of the investigation.
