Caravan fire sends plume of smoke rising over Mersey waterfront

A dark plume of smoke could be seen rising above Wirral waterfront after a caravan blaze.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called out to Ferry View Road/Mersey Street, Seacombe, on Saturday, July 24.

Crews were alerted at 5.05pm and were on scene at 5.11pm. Two fire engines attended.

The smoke could be seen for miles around as a result of the incident.

No-one was in the caravan at the time and it appears the fire was accidental.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: "On arrival crews found one caravan well alight. Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"No one was injured in the incident.

"Fire crews left the scene at 5.24pm and handed the incident over to Merseyside Police."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed they were called to reports of a caravan fire.

Wirral Council also attended to remove the debris.
