Caravan concern sees police lock down Ayrshire retail park

Police locked down a busy retail park amid concern for people inside a caravan.

Officers were called to Queen's Drive in Kilmarnock and shut off the car park outside Smyth's Toy superstore.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing cops swarm a caravan parked in the grounds of the retail centre.

Police confirmed the incident, which took place yesterday, followed concern for those inside the caravan.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were in attendance at Queen's Drive Retail Park, Kilmarnock, on Wednesday, May 19, conducting enquiries into a report of concern for the occupants of a caravan situated within the car park area.

"There have been no reports of any serious injury and enquiries into the full circumstances remain ongoing."
