Caravan blown over on Woodhead Pass

A dozen people left their cars to help push a caravan back on its wheels after it blew over on the A628.

According to a witness the car toppled over just before 11am this morning and was headed towards Barnsely on the Woodhead pass.

It is not known if anybody was injured, but witnesses say the owners of the caravan had pulled up to the side of the road on the phone, seemingly unharmed.

Oliver Dyson was on his way home from Manchester when he says the caravan on  its side, blocking traffic from both sides of the dual carriageway.

"Traffic was coming to a slow crawl and we just thought people were following the 30mph limit." He told the MEN.

"We moved on a bit more then saw the car that was pulling it on its side as well as the caravan and there was no traffic coming from the other side.

"10 or 12 people were trying to help it back on four wheels and it was a bit of a team effort.

"When we drove past them the tow car was pretty banged up, but the people in it seemed okay, they'd parked up on the side of the road and were on their phone."
