Bristol Rovers could face Premier League opposition should they progress in the Carabao Cup.
The second round draw for the League Cup will take place at Salford City’s Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday, it has been confirmed.
To have their name in the hat, the Gas will need to beat League Two Cheltenham Town at the Memorial Stadium the same night.
Televised live on Sky Sports, presenter Laura Woods will host the draw following the conclusion of Salford City’s Round One clash with Leeds United.
The winning teams from the first round will be joined in the hat for the second round by the 13 Premier League sides not involved in European competitions, alongside Championship duo Cardiff City and Fulham.
Among those entering the draw are Leicester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, with the seven remaining top-flight clubs beginning their involvement from the third round.
The second round draw will be regionalised into North and South sections, with fixtures scheduled to take place on the week commencing August 26th.
