Carabao Cup quarter-final draw simulated: Arsenal handed Tottenham tie as Chelsea face Liverpool

We're now at the quarter-final stage of this season's Carabao Cup.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Sunderland were the first teams to book their place in the last eight on Tuesday night, with the latter pair needing a penalty shootout to overcome Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, respectively.

They were joined in the quarter-final 24 hours later by Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Liverpool and Leicester City.

With the Hammers knocking out holders Manchester City on penalties, it means for the first time since 2017 there will be a new name on the Carabao Cup trophy.

But there's still a lot of work to do before February's final at Wembley.

The eight teams that are still left in the competition have to wait before finding out who they'll be playing the week commencing December 20 as the quarter-final draw will take place live on Saturday (October 30) on Sky Sports during Soccer AM from 10:30am on both Main Event and Premier League channels.

Unlike draws for European competitions, there is no seeding for this stage of the competition, meaning anyone can be pitted against anyone, raising the prospect of some very exciting and intriguing ties.

So who could the London teams get?

We used a knockout stage simulator to determine who Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Brentford and West Ham might draw, and the results were fascinating.

One of two standout ties came in the shape of a north London derby.

Arsenal beat Spurs at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season, but Nuno Espirito Santo has been given a chance to exact a measure of revenge on Mikel Arteta with this game taking place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Elsewhere, the current top two in the Premier League meet in a mouth-watering tie at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Chelsea is always a must-see game and this would be no different, with a place in the Carabao Cup semi-final at stake.
