Carabao Cup draw simulated: Arsenal to be handed Man City tie as Chelsea could get Liverpool

It's Carabao Cup third round week and there have already been a couple of surprise results.

Everton and Watford both crashed out at the hands of Championship sides on Tuesday night, and Arsenal will be looking to avoid suffering a similar fate tonight when they welcome League One opposition in AFC Wimbledon to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are one of four London clubs from the top flight of English football in action today, whilst Millwall take on a Leicester City side that has struggled at the start of the new season.

Arsenal along with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United will all be hopeful of joining holders Manchester City as well as Liverpool in the next round after the pair eased through yesterday.

Teams won't have to wait too much longer to find out who they'll be playing the week commencing October 25 as the draw for the fourth round will take place very shortly.

In fact, at the conclusion of the Manchester United vs West Ham tie, which has been selected for live television coverage, all 16 teams left will discover their fate.

And you can follow the draw via football.london's live blog right here.

Unlike draws for European competitions, there is no seeding for this stage of the Carabao Cup, meaning anyone can be pitted against anyone, raising the prospect of some very exciting and intriguing ties.

So who could the London sides get if they are all victorious in the respective third-round ties?

We used a knockout stage simulator to determine who might get who in the draw, and the results were fascinating.

Should Chelsea overcome Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, their reward will be another trip to Anfield to face Liverpool having left Merseyside with a point in a Premier League meeting last month.

Given the two sides are currently neck and neck in the title race, the possibility of the two locking horns in a cup tie is a mouth-watering prospect to say the least.

The simulated draw hasn't been kind to Arsenal as if they beat the Dons a trip to the Etihad Stadium - where they were thumped 5-0 last month - awaits.

Simulated Carabao Cup fourth round draw in full:

Brighton or Swansea vs Burnley

Brentford vs Southampton

Millwall or Leicester vs Preston

Stoke City vs Wolves or Tottenham

Leeds United vs Manchester United or West Ham

Queens Park Rangers vs Sunderland

Manchester City vs Arsenal or AFC Wimbledon

Liverpool vs Chelsea or Aston Villa
