Cara Delevingne urges Justin Bieber to spend 'less time sticking up for men and more time trying to understand women'

Cara Delevingne has called on Justin Bieber to make more of an effort “trying to understand women” after the singer alleged that Taylor Swift had used her rift with music manager Scooter Braun to gain sympathy.

On Sunday, Swift published a Tumblr post expressing her concerns that Braun, who discovered Bieber on YouTube in 2007 and has represented him ever since, will own her music following his company's deal with Big Machine Records, Swift's former label.

The “You Need to Calm Down” singer accused Braun of “incessant, manipulative bullying”, prompting Bieber to rush to his defence and accuse Swift of unfairly getting “people to hate on Scooter” by writing the Tumblr post.

Bieber’s wife, model Hailey Baldwin, commented underneath Bieber’s post writing “gentleman”, prompting Delevingne, a close friend of Swift’s, to chime in to the ongoing dispute.

"Gentleman? @haileybieber @justinbieber you must be bored," Delevingne wrote.

"I wish you spent less time sticking up for men and more time trying to understand women and respecting their valid reactions."

The 26-year-old model and actor went on to ask Bieber why he chose to criticise a woman online.

"As a married man, you should be lifting women up instead of tearing them down because you are threatened. I am not sure you actually understand what an apology is.”

Delevingne continued: “This issue that @taylorswift is talking out is about far more than a picture and you know that. As you said, you haven't spoken to her in years, which means you definitely don't understand the situation. I do.

“Take a step back and try and learn from this. We should all be on the same team. End of story."

The comment appears to have been deleted from Bieber’s Instagram page, but Delevingne later posted a screenshot of it on her own Instagram story alongside a caption reading: “Love you @taylorswift”
