Cara Delevingne has revealed she and partner Ashley Benson began their relationship in an “authentic and natural” way.
The supermodel, 26, and the actress, 29, met on the set of 2018 American drama film Her Smell, directed by Alex Ross Perry.
But the couple did not confirm their romance until June this year, during the celebrations for Pride month.
Delevingne posted a video of the pair kissing on her Instagram page with the caption “#Pride! @AshleyBenson.”
In an interview with Marie Claire, she said: “We weren’t looking for it, it was really just very authentic and natural.”
Describing Benson as her "girlfriend", the model said that she now identifies as “queer”, and spent years denying her attraction to women because she “didn’t want to feel different, even though from an early age I always felt I didn’t belong.”
During the Trevor Project’s fundraising gala in June, Delevingne, who was handed the Hero Award, used her speech to pay tribute to another “special woman”, believed to be Benson.
“I also have another special woman in this room, to thank, you know who you are," she said. "She is one of the people who helped me love myself when I needed it most and I really needed it. She’s shown me what real love is and shown me how to accept it, which is a lot harder than I thought.”
Last week, The Sun on Sunday claimed the duo had a secret wedding in Las Vegas. However, sources have since told E! News the pair are not legally married, and instead it was a “friendship ceremony."
