Mercedes Benz with incessant alarm towed away by Bristol City Council

A car has been towed away by the council after residents complained its alarm had been going off, repeatedly, for days.

The green Mercedes Benz people carrier on Wolferton Road, on the Montpelier side of St Andrews had been a nuisance late into the night and early in the morning.

Residents initially complained to the police, but it was the council who took action after they investigated the grievance.

An officer from Bristol City Council's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team visited the street and heard it for themselves. A notice was put on the car telling the owner to sort the alarm out.

When no action was taken the NET arranged for it to be towed away.

A spokesperson for the council's NET team said: "Our team regularly receives reports about persistent car alarms disrupting local residents, in particular from cars which do not belong to anyone on their road," said a spokesperson for the team.

"We received a report that the alarm of a green Mercedes Benz people carrier had been sounding sporadically and frequently for three days," he added.

NET tackle anything from flytipping or leaving your garden full of rubbish to graffiti tagging or people attracting flocks of birds by leaving mountains of food out, and part of their remit is to sort out noise pollution.
