Car with bubbles all over tyre spotted on school run

A car with a tyre covered in large bubbles was pulled to one side when it was spotted on a school run.

A council officer stopped the driver and told them to get the tyre changed immediately after seeing it near a school in Derby, reports DerbyshireLive .

Derby City Council tweeted: "Good Spot Officer! Whilst on patrol PPO 9712 witnessed this car on a school run.

"When it was safe to do so 9712 advised that the car came off the road and into a garage close by.

"New tyre now fitted. Perhaps his actions saved this driver from a costly repair - or worse!"

According to the website Repairpal: "Driving on a tyre bubble is extremely dangerous. ... If you keep driving a car with a tyre bubble, you will experience a blowout. It's just that simple. As soon as you notice a tyre bubble, you should call a towing company to get you to the nearest tyre repair shop - don't risk trying to get there on your own."

Bubbles are a sign of structural weakness in the tyre and are caused by impact damage, such as potholes or hitting the curb, as well as age.
