Thugs armed with a gun and knife set a car on fire after carrying out a daylight robbery on a store in South Liverpool.
McColls Store on The Parade in Wavertree , was targeted by the two criminals at around 1.15pm on Saturday when they entered the store demanding the security guard to hand over the cash box.
A silver car which is believed to be car the two men fled the scene in, was later found on fire on Meldrum Road after the yobs left the scene in a silver Vauxhall Vectra which was driven by a third man.
Staff at the shop were "left shaken by the ordeal" but nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.
The criminals have been described as two white males between 5ft 6in and 8in tall, wearing a black hooded top and a grey hooded top with their faces covered.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the horrific daylight attack.
Detective Inspector Matt Smith said: “I would appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity of The Parade who saw the silver Vauxhall Vectra, either before or after the robbery, to contact us.
“Similarly I would ask anyone who was driving in the area who may have captured something on dash cam footage to get in touch.
“Thankfully nobody was hurt but this was a shocking incident to have happened in the middle of the day on a busy street and I would appeal to the public to come forward with any information they have so that we can find the people responsible and bring them to justice.”
