Car torched and widows smashed on Greenock street as cops launch probe

Cops have launched a probe after a car was torched and windows attacked on a Scots street.

Officers raced to Wren Road in Greenock around 9.30pm last Thursday amid reports of a 'disturbance' at a home on the Inverclyde street.

They found windows at a home had been damaged as well as a car.

Firefighters were called around an hour later when the vehicle was found to be ablaze.

Luckily nobody was hurt in the drama which police are currently investigating.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a disturbance at a property on Wren Road in Greenock around 9.30pm on Thursday, 27 May.

"A number of windows at a property and car were damaged. Officers and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service then reattended around 10.35pm when the vehicle was found on fire.

"The fire was extinguished by the fire service and nobody was injured.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 3748 of 27 May."

It's understood that there is thought to be no link to this blaze and similar ones that have hit the West of Scotland in recent weeks.

The homes of high profile business figures like Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell and nightclub tycoon James Mortimer, as well as two other luxury pads, were attacked within three days of each other last month.
