Car thieves burst into Scots home in broad daylight before stealing Peugeot from driveway

Cops have launched a probe after brazen thieves broke into a 'secure' house in broad daylight and fled with a car this afternoon.

Around 3.45pm on Friday two men forced their way into a property on Malcolm Court, Bathgate, and nicked the keys to a blue Peugeot 108.

They then stole the car from the driveway of the property and fled the scene.

The car stolen is described as being an electric blue coloured Peugeot 108 with a black zig zag pattern and the registration number SB21 YLD.

Following enquiries police believe the vehicle was in the Whiteside area shortly after.

The first male suspect is described as being white and of heavy build.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black snood, a dark jacket, dark gloves, dark jeans and grey trainers with white soles.

The second man is described as being white and of slim build.

He was wearing a black jacket, a black tammy hat with white logo on the front, dark jeans and black trainers.

One of the men also spoke with a Liverpool accent.

Detective Constable Adam Gow of West Lothian CID said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who has information or who may live in the area and heard or saw anything suspicious to contact police immediately.

“I would also urge anyone who may have seen this vehicle since Friday afternoon to contact police as soon as possible.

“Likewise, if anyone was in the area and recording via dash-cam footage, CCTV or doorbell cameras I would encourage you to check your footage for anything of relevance.

“Although the property was secure, I would also like to take this opportunity to remind homeowners to review their security- make sure to keep your doors and windows locked at all times.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2082 of Friday, 10 December, 2021 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
