Car swoop leads police to axe, knife and drugs stash

An axe, hunter's knife and drugs were recovered after police carried out a series of raids - sparked when they pulled over a car in Speke.

Today Merseyside Police released pictures of the drugs and weapons taken off the streets after stopping the car on Thursday.

Police say three men were stopped in a car being driven on Speke Boulevard at around 4.40pm.

Officers recovered a large amount of cannabis after carrying out a search of the car.

Officers from the police's Matrix team arrested all three occupants of the vehicle - the driver, a 22 year-old-man and two passengers, both 17-year-old boys, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

Police then carried out searches at the three arrested males' homes.
