Car stuck on railway track affecting Stirling to Edinburgh rail service

Commuters travelling from Stirling to Edinburgh are being asked to use a different platform after a car ended up on the railway line at Stirling station.

Platforms two and three are being affected by the trapped car and commuters travelling to Edinburgh are being asked to use Platforms six and nine instead.

It is not yet known how the vehicle ended up the tracks but Scotrail say they are working to clear it from the tracks.

Pictures show a large police presence at the scene of the incident.

In a statement online, Scotrail said: "A car has encroached onto the railway at Stirling.

"We're working closely with the emergency services.

We're able to divert trains around this obstruction by using Platforms six and nine at the station.
