Car stranded as Co-op car park in Nottinghamshire village floods

More rainfall overnight has caused a supermarket car park to flood in a Nottinghamshire village - leaving a car stranded underwater.

The Co-op car park in East Leake has flooded again for the second time in a month, but the store remains open.

The car park was also mostly inaccessible for vehicles after rain fell for most of the day and night on Wednesday, December 23 and left it flooded on Christmas Eve.

Forecasters have predicted heavy rainfall for the next three days with the Met Office issuing an amber weather warning from 6am today (Tuesday, January 19) until midday on Thursday, January 21.

The national weather service has said the effects of Storm Christoph combined with some snowmelt from higher ground is likely to lead to flooding.

A flood alert means "flooding is possible" and residents should "be prepared".

On Tuesday morning, the Government's Flood Information Service said river levels remain high at the Colwick river gauge as a result of recent heavy rainfall.

It means flooding of some roads and farmland continues.
