Car sped down wrong side of Fishponds Road in police chase

Motorists were forced to 'swerve' out of the way as a car drove down the wrong side of a road during a dramatic police chase.

Two men, who were wanted in connection with an aggravated burglary, have been arrested following the incident on Fishponds Road.

At least ten police cars were spotted in pursuit of the wanted men, it has been reported.

Avon and Somerset police have now launched an investigation.

A force spokesperson said: “At 4.10pm today a vehicle linked to a man wanted in connection with an aggravated burglary was sighted on Soundwell Road.

“Officers pursued the vehicle before bringing it to a stop using stingers on Radley Road.

“Two men, aged 18 and 21, have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences and remain in police custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A witness tweeted saying she was forced to swerve out of the way of the on-coming speeding vehicle.

She said: "Just swerved out of the path of car driving fast on the wrong side of Fishponds Rd, luckily safe to do so.

"At least 10 of your cars on his tail. What happened next?"
