Car smashes through window of old TJ Hughes building in Weston-super-Mare

A car smashed through a former shop-front in Weston-super-Mare this afternoon (September 11).

Paramedics treated a man at the scene of the collision on St James Street for minor injuries.

Pictures show the back of the vehicle smashed through the front of the former TJ Hughes' window.

Firefighters, police and ambulances services all attended the incident.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to St James Street in Weston-super-Mare with one crew from Weston-super-Mare attending.

"It was an RTC involving one vehicle versus a shop front. One man was handed over to the ambulance service. The vehicle was made safe by fire crews and the incident was left in the hands of the police and ambulance service."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.58am, and our ambulance crew treated and discharged a male patient at the scene."
