A car smashed into another parked vehicle and ploughed into the wall of a grocers in Chorlton.
Police sealed off Manchester Road, between Claridge Road and Longford Road, following the collision which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, December 3.
The car was being pursued by officers shortly before the smash took place.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, believed to be stolen, but the driver refused and drove away.
A man was taken to hospital suffering with head injuries and serious facial injuries.
Images taken from the scene show a badly damaged silver Golf and a blue Audi with a crumpled up bonnet.

A hole was also left in the wall of the Khawaja Bros Mini Market, next to the Barbakan Delicatessen, following the smash.
Witnesses said they could see a police chase before the collision took place.
One social media user said: "A massive police chase around Chorlton tonight. A silver car being followed by around 20 police cars."
A GMP spokesman said: "Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle.
"They tried to pull the car over before a pursuit started as the car failed to stop.
"There was a short pursuit before the car was involved in a collision with a building.
"One man has been taken to hospital to be treated for head injuries, which are not life-threatening or life-changing."
