Car smashes into house in Fife as terrified neighbours hear 'loud bang like a plane crash'

A major police incident is underway in a Fife town after a car smashed into the side of a house.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Windygates Road, Leven, at around 3am on Friday.

Horror pictures from the scene show the side of the property almost completely caved in from the apparent impact, with at least two people feared seriously injured.

Residents told how they heard a loud bang around the time of the crash, with the windows of some neighbouring properties caving in.

One woman wrote: “Our windows went in so it felt and sounded like a plane crash. Two families are now gonna be left absolutely devastated.”

The road remains closed this morning with the police investigation continuing.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted.
