Car smashed up in quiet Wirral village after 'note left asking for it to be moved'

A car was smashed up in a quiet Merseyside village on Monday evening.

The incident, which occurred on Townshend Avenue in Irby, Wirral, was believed to have taken place at around 9.30pm.

The ECHO understands that the vehicle was blocking an entrance to a field on Townshend Avenue in the village and a note had previously been left on the car asking for it to be removed before the incident occurred.

It is understood all the windows of the vehicle were smashed by an unidentified male who then jumped into a vehicle and sped away.

Merseyside Police have confirmed they have received a report of criminal damage and are currently investigating.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers are investigating following criminal damage to a car in Irby yesterday night.

"At around 9.30pm, a report was received of damage to the windows of a Ford Focus on Townshend Avenue. Enquiries are ongoing.
