Car smash on Rutherglen street leaves three vehicles damaged

Three cars were damaged after a smash on a Rutherglen street on Sunday night.

The Cathcart Road incident saw an Audi end up on two wheels next to a fence on the street while a tyre can be seen in the middle of the road.

The driver is alleged to have been found to be nearly five times over the limit and is due to appear at court in relation to the incident.

One shocked local told Lanarkshire Live : "It was a big crash.

"It's lucky it was late at night and no-one was walking down the street at the time."

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.

He added: “We were made aware of a crash involving three vehicles on Cathcart Road in Rutherglen around 11.35pm on Sunday.

“There were no reports of any injuries and the road was reopened around 1.55am after the vehicles were recovered.

“A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
